Resumen

This research is based on the factors that negatively influence the development of speaking skills in students of grade 11 "A" of Rigoberto Lopez Perez school, second semester 2022. The students face many factors regarding speaking skills, affected by several factors such as lack of motivation which is the main cause followed by disinterest in learning a new language, also poor pedagogical didactics that are not as useful or productive as the students would like to be or as the teacher might be expecting to be. To try to solve this problem, we began by identifying the difficulties that students have in speaking English by applying an interview-questionnaire to determine the effectiveness of the teacher's activities, as well as including the factors that affect their development of speaking skills. These instruments applied to the students were validated and reviewed by one of the professors at the Universidad Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN- Managua). Making students feel motivated is the key to success so, applying those skills such as; practicing vocabulary, oral activities, and face to face interaction with a great explanation of the topics will then help to have a better acquisition of knowledge during the learning process to develop the skill. Based on the results of this research, recommendations were formulated and, it is expected that, this research will help to improve the teaching and learning process of oral proficiency
