Resumen

This is an exploratory research about methodological teaching strategies to develop speaking skills in EFL learners. The aim of this study is analyze the methodological strategies in the development of communicative competence at Instituto Central Dr. Carlos Vega Bolaños in order to create a suitable environment, where students interact in a fluently way through oral activities. The subjects of the study were 20 students chosen from 38, seventh grade, and 1 teacher of English, class observation guide, student questionnaire, and an interview to the teacher were used as a data collection tools. The results obtained in this research are considered satisfactory, according to questionnaries applied to the students, interview to the teacher, and observation guide. Methodological teaching strategies to develop speaking skills in students were roleplays, cooperative learning, storytelling, and communicative approach. This research provides English teachers and curriculum designers seeking to enhance EFL learners` speaking abilities, ultimately promoting a more interactive and communicative language learning environment
